Node Overview

Node Ports

  • Input
    The Input to Mask

  • Output
The main output of the node. This output is affected by settings of the Preview Node Properties Group, unless the "Grade Mode" is turned on.
That means that settings such as "Show Background", "Screen Wipe" etc. are output as part of this port.

If you do not use the Node in Grade Mode, it is recommended to use the Mask Output instead to avoid potential issues with Preview Settings making
    its way into your mask.

  • Mask
The Mask Output of the Node will always output a Black/White Mask of your Selection, even if "Grade Mode" is turned on

Node Properties

MAIN TAB

  • Show Background

Allows you to show the result of the Channel without the Adjustment applied.

This is useful for color picking. How the background is shown depends on your settings for

'Wipe' and 'Selection Preview'

  • Wipe

A viewport wipe between picked Colors and Background. The wipe position is in percentage of your

paint buffers width. Moving the Paint Buffer will change the position of the wipe midpoint

Flattening the resulting Mask with a Wipe set to lower than 1.0 will result in an incomplete mask unless the "Mask" output port is used

  • Reverse Wipe

Will reverse the Mask/Background from left/right to right/left

  • Selection Preview

Determines the way the Mask Preview is shown. This is in line with Photoshop's "Select Color Range"

Preview Options. Setting the mode to 'Grayscale' is the same as turning off 'Show Background'.

  • +/- bias

Will overpower the Additive Selection (negative values) or Subtractive Selection (positive values)

  • Gain

The higher the value the more you will blow out your selection

  • Invert

Will Invert the selection result.

  • Color 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

The Color Picker Slots for additive selection.

Color slots can be activated and deactivated via the Checkbox above the color field

To evaluate the Color field, check the Checkbox above it

  • Expand 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Will expand the selection of color.

  • Color 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

The Color Picker Slots for subtractive selection.

Color slots can be activated and deactivated via the Checkbox above the color field

To evaluate the Color field, check the Checkbox above it

  • Expand 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Will expand the selection of color.

  • Enhance Selection

Enhance Selection will try to close small gaps in your selection by internally applying a curve to values and saturation.

  • Range Min

The min point of the curve along which values and saturation are evaluated. Low values here will give broader selection results.

  • Range Max

The max point of the curve along which values and saturation are evaluated. High values here will give broader selection results.

COLOR CORRECT TAB

  • Grade Mode

With Grade Mode activated the Color Range to Mask Node becomes a fully functional selective color corrector.

When Grade Mode is checked, all options under the 'preview' group ('show background', 'wipe', 'selection preview') will be ignored
