Mirror Bake XYZ

  • Where to find it:

    • Main Window / Extension Pack / Symmetry

Mirror Bake XYZ allows for Symmetrical projections of paint onto the model.

Other than Mari's existing Symmetry Tools the new tools do not work in Screenspace, meaning that you can bake down paint without seeing the other side of the model and still maintain symmetry. Please refer to the 'Limitations & Requirements' section below to avoid common mistakes

To control the new behavior options were added to the 'Mirroring' Toolbar

Options

  • X / Y  / Z

Activates Symmetry in X, Y or Z Axis. The Axis is defined by the Mari Grid.

  • Object / World Toggle

The Object/World Toggle Button determines the Bake Behavior of the Symmetry Tools.

The button is greyed out until one of the X, Y or Z buttons is pressed.

    • Object

In 'Object' Mode when projecting paint, Mari will save the contents of your paintbuffer,

then Mirror the Object across its mari transform pivot, reload the paint and project.

'Object' Mode supports Translation and Scaling using Mari's 'Transform Selected Object' Tool

    • World

In 'World' Mode when projecting paint, Mari will save the contents of your paintbuffer,

then mirror the Camera, reload the paint and project

'World' Mode does not support Translation and Scaling using Mari's 'Transform Selected Object' Tool

Requirements and Limitations

  • Mirroring when painting in the UV View is not supported

  • Both in 'Object' and 'World' Mode, your imported Model needs to be centered at World Space 0 (Grid Origin)

  • 'Object' Mode works with the currently active Object only, it will produce incorrect results when painting across multiple objects

  • The Main X, Y and Z Axis of the Model need to align with Mari's World X, Y & Z Axis. Rotation of Objects currently is not accounted for.

  • 'Object' Mode supports Translation and Scaling using Mari's 'Transform Selected Object' Tool, 'World' Mode does not.

  • It is recommened to use the Mirror Options in Orthographic View since Perspective View can introduce slight position shift

  • Both  'Object' and 'World' Mode can be used together with Mari's build in Screen Space Mirroring
